Admission
At Georgia War Veterans Home our primary mission is to honor and care for our nation's veterans who have dedicated their lives to serving our country. We are committed to providing the highest quality of care and support to eligible veterans who are in need of nursing home services.
Our admissions process is guided by a sense of duty and respect for those who have served in the armed forces. We adhere to federal and state regulations, as well as the guidelines established by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), to determine eligibility for admission.
Eligibility
Georgia Residency Requirement
Two years of residency immediately prior to application or five of the last 15 years as a resident.
Additional Requirements

Must have been discharged under other than dishonorable conditions.

Must be approved as eligible for skilled nursing care by the US VA

Must be free of contagious, infectious disease and behavior and psychiatric problems.

Must not need to be sustained by line-operated mechanical means or receiving chemotherapy.

WWII - 12/7/1941 to 12/31/1946

Korea - 6/27/1950 to 1/21/1955

Cold War - 1/31/1955 to 8/1/1990

Vietnam - 7/1/1964 to 5/7/1975

Additional Information
A nominal daily fee is charged to veterans. Eligible veterans may apply for the federal VA Aid and Attendance benefit to offset this cost.
For veterans with a service-connected disability rating of 70% or higher, the daily fee is paid in full by the VA.
